To start this problem, I used F = ma and F = -kx, and then wrote out the equations of motion.

Assuming solutions of the form:

x_j(t) = C_j e^{i\omega t}


is as far as we're asked to go.

To find normal modes, I got a linear system of equations. From here I believe it's a matter of taking the determinant to get eigenvalues.
